New Delhi: United States and Iran are reportedly engaged in intense indirect negotiations aimed at finalizing a potential diplomatic agreement that could reshape regional tensions in the Middle East. Reports suggest that both sides are attempting to prevent further escalation while addressing long-standing disputes linked to Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Ceasefire and Maritime Security at the Center
According to reports citing Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the proposed framework includes an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire across multiple fronts. The draft also contains assurances regarding the security of key maritime routes, particularly in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, which are considered crucial for global energy supplies and international trade.
The agreement is also expected to include a phased rollback of sanctions on Iran. However, the easing of restrictions would reportedly depend on Tehran fulfilling commitments outlined in the proposed arrangement.
