Trump receives mysterious gift from Iran amid peace talks, says it’s an expensive gift related to oil and gas
Washington: President Donald Trump made a surprising statement on Tuesday. Amid discussions about ceasefire talks with Iran, Trump said that Iran had sent him a large and very valuable gift. However, he did not provide any details about this gift, saying only that it was related to oil and gas. While Trump is claiming talks with Iran, Iran’s military is denying any talks with the US.
In fact, during a media interaction at the White House on Tuesday, Trump was asked if he trusts those on the Iranian side negotiating a ceasefire. In response, Trump said he doesn’t trust anyone, but they alluded to receiving a gift from Iran. Based on this, Trump said he was talking to the right people.
Trump said, “He’s given us a gift, and that gift arrived today. It’s a big gift, a very valuable gift, but I’m not going to tell you what it is, but it’s a special gift.” Trump said the gift is related to oil and gas. He declined to provide further details.
Earlier on Monday, Trump announced a five-day halt to attacks on Iranian energy installations. During this, Trump claimed that the US and Iran were in talks regarding a ceasefire. American media reports claim that the US government has sent a 15-point ceasefire proposal to Iran. However, Iran has not issued any statement regarding this. Meanwhile, the US is increasing its troop deployment in West Asia, leading to discussions that if a ceasefire is not agreed upon, the US may launch a ground invasion against Iran.
On one hand, the US President is claiming talks with Iran. On the other hand, the Iranian military has taunted Trump. The Iranian military spokesman mocked Trump’s claim of talks. He said, “Don’t try to call your defeat a compromise. The era of your promises is coming to an end. The world now faces two fronts: one of truth and one of lies. Your internal conflict has reached such a point that you are now negotiating a compromise with yourselves. There will be no discussion on your investments in this region, nor will you see the old prices of oil and gas return in the future. You must understand that the peace and stability of this region rests in the powerful hands of our military.”
