Trump slams ‘bad bunny rabbit’ Super Bowl performance
President Donald Trump has sparked a fresh “cultural war” by criticising the NFL’s decision to name Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny as the headliner for the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show.
The announcement made in partnership with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation will see the artist perform on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
During a recent interview on Newsmax, Trump did not hold back his disapproval after host Greg Kelly described the singer as someone who “hates ICE” and “accuses everything he does not like of racism.”
Trump responded by questioning the artist’s fame and the league’s judgement, stating, “I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is.”
He continued his critique by adding, “I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter that they hired. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
The tension stems from Bad Bunny’s vocal opposition to the administration’s immigration policies. The singer previously opted out of U.S. tour dates due to concerns over ICE presence.
In response to the political backlash, Bab Bunny addressed the controversy during a Saturday Night Live monologue, telling critics in Spanish that his performance is a win for Latino culture and jokingly adding in English:
“If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”
