Trump spoke to PM Modi, agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open

New Delhi, 24 March. Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump spoke on telephone with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. During this conversation, both the leaders also discussed the current situation prevailing in West Asia and the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore himself gave this information through a social media post.

According to the information received, both the leaders discussed the current situation in West Asia and especially stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.

Sergio Gore said in a post on X, ‘President Donald Trump just spoke to Prime Minister Modi. They discussed the current situation in West Asia, including the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.

It is noteworthy that on Tuesday itself, PM Modi gave a statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding the war in West Asia. He said that India is rapidly moving towards becoming self-reliant, even though the ongoing conflict in West Asia is affecting trade and energy supply across the world.

PM Modi said that due to this war, a serious energy crisis has arisen in the entire world, which is a matter of concern for India as well. Due to this the essential supplies of the country are being affected. He said that many ships are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, in which Indian crew members are also present, which has further increased the concern.

He said, ‘Since the beginning of the war, I have had two rounds of phone talks with the heads of state of most of the countries in West Asia. We are continuously talking with all the Gulf countries. We are also in touch with Iran, Israel and America. Our aim is to restore peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
