Trump’s Mission Hormuz asked for warships from 7 countries of the world, but an old partner showed his refusal, will oil prices rise again?
News India Live, Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump has taken a big gamble to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which is called the lifeline of the global oil market. The Trump administration has started an effort to form a powerful military coalition of about 7 countries, the purpose of which is to provide security cover to oil tankers amid the threat from Iran. However, this campaign suffered a major setback when a major ally country flatly refused to join this mission. What is Trump’s ‘Protection Plan’? President Trump has announced that the countries that import the most oil from Hormuz (such as China, Japan and South Korea) will now have to take responsibility for their own security. Trump said in clear words, “I am demanding that these countries send their warships to defend themselves, because this is their own territory and their own energy security.” America is promising to provide technical assistance and air security to this alliance. This country gave a big shock! While on one hand Britain has indicated to consider sending minesweeping drones, Australia has rejected Trump’s demand. Australia’s Transport Minister has clarified that they will not send any warships to the Middle East for this mission. European countries like Germany have also distanced themselves from being a part of this military conflict, due to which questions are being raised on the strength of Trump’s ‘Global Alliance’. Trump’s direct target on China: Trump has specifically targeted China on this issue. He said that China gets 90% of its oil requirement through this route, whereas America needs very little of it. Trump said in a warning tone that if China and other countries do not cooperate, they will remember it. He even hinted that if China does not help, he may postpone the upcoming summit with President Xi Jinping. Hormuz, which is on the verge of war, Iran has already warned that it will keep this passage closed for ‘enemy’ ships (especially America and Israel). Due to this ongoing deadlock in Hormuz, crude oil prices have crossed $ 100 per barrel. If this alliance of Trump is not successful, then there may be a huge rise in the prices of petrol and diesel across the world.
