Trump’s new stance on Iran: Attacks postponed for 14 days, paving the way for peace talks

US President Donald Trump has announced to stop military actions against Iran for 14 days. This decision has been taken on the condition of Iran immediately opening the Strait of Hormuz and continuing discussions on a comprehensive peace agreement.

In a statement issued from the White House, Trump mentioned his conversation with Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He advised restraint as tensions increased in the Gulf region.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, ‘If the Islamic Republic of Iran can fully and safely open the Strait of Hormuz, I will stop the bombing for two weeks.’ Called it part of the bilateral ceasefire.

America has achieved its military goals, Trump claimed. Termed the 10-point proposal received from Iran as a strong basis for talks.

‘Most of the old disputes have been resolved. The agreement will be finalized in these two weeks,’ he expressed confidence. This step is a major success towards bringing stability in the Middle East.

This announcement is important after giving an ultimatum till 8 pm. The importance of Hormuz for global oil trade makes it more serious.

Regional powers are keeping an eye on this. If successful, the long struggle may end.
