Trump’s shocking stance at NATO summit: Called Meloni a ‘good person’, but publicly accused him of cheating in Iran war

US President Donald Trump’s very aggressive and unique attitude has been seen from the stage of the high-profile NATO summit held in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. On the very first day of the summit, President Trump spoke openly about his tumultuous personal and diplomatic relationship with Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. On the one hand, Trump praised Meloni’s personality and described her as a ‘very nice woman’, while on the other hand he also sharply criticized her in front of the global media for not supporting America in the ongoing military campaign against Iran. Meloni was earlier considered Trump’s strongest European ally in diplomatic circles, but bitterness between the two has increased significantly in the last few months. In a face-to-face conversation with journalists in Ankara, Donald Trump bluntly said that when America needed Italy the most in the ongoing strategic war against Iran, the Meloni government had flatly refused to help us militarily; Because of this, our mutual relations have deteriorated a bit at present. Trump further said that he personally likes Maloney, but as Prime Minister, he has made a huge historical mistake by backing down on the Iran war. Just a day before this statement, on Monday, Trump shared an old picture with Meloni on his official social media platform ‘Truth Social’ and wrote in a witty and sharp tone – "There is a dire need for a restraining order at this time."

Direct challenge to Denmark: Only America should have control over Greenland. In the presence of NATO leaders, Donald Trump has surprised the European countries by raising an old and very sensitive international issue again. During an important bilateral meeting with the Turkish President, Trump told the global media that the strategically important island ‘Greenland’ should not be under sovereign control of Denmark, but under any circumstances, only by America. The US President argued that the long-standing dispute over the geographical ownership and control of Greenland has significantly damaged US relations with NATO in the past. This statement by Trump has once again heated up the debate over geopolitical control in the Arctic region, and many European countries, including Denmark, have started objecting to it internally. Trump got angry by sharing hijab video of Minnesota school: Governor Tim Walz gave a befitting reply. Along with international diplomacy, Trump also created a big controversy with Ankara regarding America’s internal politics and religious dress. The US President shared a short video of the graduation ceremony held at a kindergarten (primary school) in the US state of Minnesota on his social media account. Along with this video, Trump wrote a brief but controversial comment, noting that ‘every little girl’ in this American school is seen in hijab. This social media post of Trump has started drawing sharp reactions within America itself. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz immediately hit back, strongly condemning the President’s remarks. Governor Walz said it is extremely unfortunate for the President of the country to target innocent little kindergarten children for the attire they wear to school either voluntarily or as per their family culture. Walz alleged that despite being on the international stage, Trump is only trying to create polarization and controversy at the domestic level.
