Trump’s stern warning to Iran, says ‘Stop Hezbollah otherwise there will be another big attack’
New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Sunday took a tough stance on Iran, saying that if Tehran does not stop its ally Hezbollah in Lebanon, America will launch a major military attack again. This statement of Trump has come at a time when four-party talks are going on between the representatives of America and Iran in Switzerland.
Strictest warning given on Truth Social
Minutes after the talks began in Switzerland, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran must immediately stop its supporting groups in Lebanon. He said that if this does not happen, America will attack Iran again, and that attack will be even more powerful than last week’s.
This statement of Trump has come amid diplomatic efforts. This month, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the US and Iran, in which 60 days of talks were scheduled on issues like regional security, the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear program and ceasefire.
Lebanon eyes fixed on ceasefire
US Vice President JD Vance said the administration has succeeded to some extent in maintaining a ceasefire in Lebanon, but the situation is still fragile. He said that Trump wants permanent peace in the entire region and considers peace in Lebanon as the first step in that direction.
According to Vance, Washington is ready for a fresh start in relations with Tehran if Iran abandons policies that the US considers destabilizing.
Iran kept its conditions
Iran says it will not move forward in the next round of talks until Israeli attacks on Lebanon stop and talks related to the nuclear program begin. Tehran also said the US and its allies should fulfill economic promises made in recent agreements.
Iran has raised questions over America’s failure to stop the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah that has been going on in Lebanon since March. Along with this, the decision to reimpose blockade on the Strait of Hormuz is making negotiations more difficult.
This is the same waterway which is included in the world’s largest oil shipping route. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether the ongoing talks in Switzerland succeed in reducing tensions or whether the situation worsens again after Trump’s warning.
