Trump’s ultimatum increased… Israeli attacks continue, amidst tension, Iran rejected the proposal of peace talks, made these big demands
Dubai. Israel launched fresh attacks on Iran on Friday while US President Donald Trump claimed that meaningful talks were underway to end the war. Trump extended the deadline given to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, although there are no signs of Iran relenting. Israel’s military said Friday the attacks in Tehran targeted bases producing ballistic missiles and other weapons. The army said that apart from this, missile launchers and storage sites in western Iran were also attacked.
Air raid sirens also sounded in Israel and the army said it was trying to stop Iran’s missiles. At the same time, Iran continued missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries, due to which an alert was issued in Bahrain, Qatar and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Kuwait said the port of Shuwaykh suffered “material damage” in the attack, but there were no casualties.
After the fall in stock markets and the economic impact of the war spreading outside West Asia, pressure is increasing on Trump to end Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz. This is a very important sea route, through which usually 20 percent of the oil is supplied worldwide. America has claimed to have presented a 15-point proposal to Iran for a ceasefire, which also includes ending Iran’s control over this strait.
Additionally, America has also ordered the deployment of thousands of additional troops in the area, which indicates that it may also take military action on this important sea route. Trump had earlier warned that if the waterway was not opened within 48 hours, Iran’s energy plants would be destroyed. Later he increased this time limit to five days. On Thursday he extended it till April 6 and said that meaningful talks are taking place. However, Iran says that it is not involved in any kind of talks.
Meanwhile, Wall Street saw its worst decline since the war began, and Asian markets also fell. Oil prices rose again as doubts grew over the prospects for easing tensions. The price of ‘Brent crude’ reached $ 107 per barrel, which shows an increase of more than 45 percent since the attack by Israel and America on Iran on February 28.
Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff said the US has submitted a list of 15 points to Iran for the possibility of a ceasefire. The list includes conditions such as restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has rejected the US proposal and on its part has proposed five points, which include compensation for war damages and demand for recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Diplomats of many countries are trying to organize direct talks between representatives of America and Iran. These talks can possibly be held in Pakistan.
