Trump’s warning: America may attack Kharg island again

Donald Trump has warned of another US attack on Kharg Island. The island is a hub for Iran’s oil exports, increasing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and global energy markets.

World News: US President Donald Trump has issued a new warning regarding Iran’s oil-rich Kharg Island. Trump said most of the facilities on Kharg Island have already been destroyed in recent US airstrikes, but it could be targeted again “just for fun”.

This comment of Trump has come at a time when the third week of war between America, Israel and Iran has started. Due to this conflict, regional tensions are increasing and there is a possibility of disruption in global oil supply. According to NBC News and ‘The Times of Israel’, Trump said that the recent strikes completely destroyed most of the military targets on Kharg Island.

Strategic importance of Kharg Island

Kharg Island is located about 30 kilometers off Iran’s southern coast and handles about 90 percent of the country’s crude oil exports. The island is near the Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil passes. Any disruption could disrupt international oil supplies and cause turmoil in global energy markets.

Trump said the US military targeted military infrastructure on Kharg Island, but did not intentionally destroy major oil facilities. He wrote in his post that the oil infrastructure was kept safe because of civilization. Also warned that if Iran creates obstacles in the Strait of Hormuz, this policy may change.

pressure on iran

Trump said Iran was willing to negotiate an end to the conflict, but the proposed terms were not acceptable to the US. He said that the conditions are not that good right now and hence US action may continue.

He stressed that the US is prepared to take any action to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, secure and free. He appealed to the Gulf countries and oil-dependent economies to cooperate in protecting this waterway.

security concerns

The scope of American and Iranian actions in the Gulf region has increased in recent weeks. On Saturday, a missile fell on the helipad of the US Embassy in Baghdad, while debris from an Iranian drone intercepted in Fujairah fell. These incidents have raised concerns about the security of energy infrastructure and shipping routes.

Iran has also threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. Also warned the neighboring countries that those who are giving place to American forces in their territory can also become targets of attack. The Iranian military command raised the possibility of targeting UAE ports, such as Dubai’s Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa and Fujairah.

Trump’s strategy and restraint

Trump wrote on ‘Truth Social’ that US forces took part in the most powerful bombing in history on Kharg Island and destroyed every Iranian military target. He clarified that the US showed restraint by not destroying oil infrastructure.

“We will continue to bombard the coastline and consistently destroy Iranian boats and ships in the water. Keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure is our primary objective,” he said.
