Washington. US President Donald Trump has warned that if Iran attacks a ship in Hormuz, the US will destroy one of its bridges or power plants every time. In this warning given on social media, Trump reiterated his old threats to target civilian infrastructure in response to Iranian attacks.

The statement comes at a time when attacks from both sides have intensified, completely breaking down an interim agreement to end the war. Trump posted on social media, “From now on, whenever the Islamic Republic of Iran targets a ship in Hormuz with a missile, rocket, drone or any other weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy one of its bridges or power plants.”

At the same time, Iran retaliated by giving a stern warning to America, saying that any attack on its underground nuclear or sensitive targets would provoke a widespread war in the entire region. This warning comes after US President Donald Trump’s statement in which he said that America will ‘very soon’ target Iran’s highly protected ‘Pickaxe Mountain’ (Kuh-e Kallang) nuclear base.

In the harshest warning given by Iran since the conflict with the US escalated, ‘Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters’ said that an attack on Iran’s nuclear or other strategic targets would be seen as ‘expansion of war in the region’. In a statement issued early Wednesday, the military headquarters accused the US of threatening Iran and warned of massive retaliation. “If aggressive and terrorist US forces take such a step, Iran will consider it an escalation of the war in the region,” the statement said.

It also warned that ‘deadly and powerful attacks’ would be carried out by Iranian armed forces on ‘all interests of the US, its allies and supporters’. The hilltop complex, located near the Natanz nuclear site, is buried deep underground and is suspected to contain advanced uranium-enrichment centrifuges and a stockpile of enriched uranium, according to Western and Israeli intelligence reports. Military experts have already warned that destroying this highly defended base through conventional air strikes will be one of the toughest challenges.
