Twisters Director Lee Isaac Chung to Direct Sci-Fi Movie The Traveler
Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung will direct The Traveler for Skydance Media.
The Traveler is a feature film adaptation of Joseph Eckert’s novel of the same name. The project is said to be in “early stages” at this time and no release date has yet been announced.
What do we know about The Traveler?
The logline for The Traveler is being kept under wraps at this time; however, Deadline describes the movie as “an intimate family drama that exponentially develops into a vast science fiction odyssey.”
The article further notes, “The novel explores the life of Scott Treder, a 47-year-old biology technician who begins experiencing involuntary jumps through time.”
The script for The Traveler was written by Justin Rhodes, while Austin Everett (Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out) penned a previous draft. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Adam Rosenberg, Ashley Jay Sandberg, and Rodney Rothman will serve as producers on the film.
Chung made his feature film directorial debut in 2007 with Munyurangabo. He then went on to make 2010’s Lucky Life and 2012’s Abigail Harm before making Minari in 2020. Minari earned Youn Yuh-jung an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, while it was also nominated for five other awards: Academy Award nominations: Best Picture (Christina Oh), Best Director (Chung), Best Actor (Steven Yeun), Best Original Screenplay (Chung), and Best Original Score (Mosseri).
Following that, Chung made Twisters, a sequel to 1996’s Twister, which was released in July 2024. That movie stars Glen Powell as Tyler Owens, Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Carter, Anthony Ramos as Javi, Brandon Perea as Boone, David Corenswet as Scott, Sasha Lane as Lily, and more.
Rhodes, meanwhile, worked on the screenplay for 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. He also wrote two episodes of the new adult animated anthology series Secret Level for Amazon Prime Video.
