Two killed, one Indian among them after being hit by missile debris in UAE

Dubai. Debris from missiles intercepted by the air defense system of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fell on a road in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, killing at least two people, including an Indian, and injuring three others.

Local media gave this information. Abu Dhabi Media Office said that the second person killed in the incident is a Pakistani national while the three other injured also include an Indian. According to the UAE Defense Ministry, the UAE’s air defense system is responding to threats of missile and drone attacks coming from Iran at regular intervals.

“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded to the incident of debris falling in Swehan Street after air defense systems successfully intercepted a ballistic missile,” Abu Dhabi Media Office said. “The incident resulted in the death of two people from Pakistan and India and three people of Emirati, Jordanian and Indian nationality suffered serious to moderate injuries,” it said.

According to ‘Gulf News’, after the latest incident in Abu Dhabi, the total number of dead has increased to 11. UAE air defense systems neutralized 15 ballistic missiles and 11 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) fired from Iran on 26 March 2026. The Defense Ministry gave this information in a social media post on Thursday.

The ministry said that since the beginning of Iran’s attacks, UAE air defense systems have shot down 372 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,826 UAVs in mid-air. He said, “Two armed forces personnel were martyred in these attacks while performing their national duty. In addition, a Moroccan national serving with the armed forces also died. Besides, eight citizens of Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine and India also lost their lives.

A total of 169 people were injured, some of whom suffered minor, some moderate and some serious injuries. The Defense Ministry said that it is fully prepared to deal with any threat and will firmly counter any attempt to undermine the country’s security while ensuring that the country’s sovereignty, security and stability are safeguarded and its national interests and capabilities are safeguarded.
