Two members of ‘Chhenu Gang’ arrested in Delhi, were involved in a major incident in Rajasthan; Weapons and car seized

Delhi Police informed on Wednesday that two members of ‘Chhenu Gang’ have been arrested in connection with the theft of jewelery worth Rs 70 lakh in Rajasthan. The police officer said that both the accused were absconding for a long time. He was identified as Rashid alias Sonu (35), a history-sheeter, against whom more than 21 criminal cases are already registered. Faheem alias Danny (30) Police said that both the accused were caught near a hospital when they were roaming in search of a new victim.

Delhi Police said that this arrest action was taken on the basis of receiving intelligence information. On March 5, the police team received news that a member of an interstate gang, who had recently joined the Chhenu gang, was planning to commit a major crime in the area. After this information, the police arrested both the accused Rashid alias Sonu (35) and Faheem alias Danny (30). Giving information about the recovered items, the police said that two guns, five live cartridges and a car have been seized from the accused.

Caught after intelligence information

Giving information about the case, the police officer said that after receiving intelligence, the police team laid a trap near Guru Gobind Singh Hospital on the intervening night of March 5 and 6. During this time, a car coming there, carrying two people, was signaled to stop. As soon as they saw the police, the people sitting in the car tried to run away. After a short scuffle, the police team overpowered both the accused.

One pistol each recovered from both of them

Delhi Police said that the two arrested accused of ‘Chhenu Gang’ initially tried to mislead the investigators. But upon strict questioning the accused revealed the truth. He told that weapons were kept in his car. They were roaming in the area in search of new victims so that they could commit some crime. Police searched the car, in which Rashid had a pistol with four live cartridges and Faheem had a country-made pistol with one live cartridge.

There was a search in connection with the incident that took place in Rajasthan.

Delhi Police said that during interrogation, the fact came to light that Rashid, MLA from Jaipur, is the main accused in a major theft that took place in Puri police station area. Earlier this year, gold and silver jewelery and cash worth about Rs 70 lakh were stolen from there. Rashid was wanted in this case.
