Two new Patna Metro stations to open after Holi; check routes, connectivity

New Delhi: In a major gift for the people of Patna ahead of the Holi festival, Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC) on Thursday completed the trial run on remaining 2.9 km of priority corridor, thus bringing the 6.6 km Blue Line stretch closer to full operations.

The two new stations are likely to open after Holi. It will help ease the daily commute of the travellers as well as reduce congestion on major roads in the city.

Trial conducted between Khemnichak and Malahi Pakri

The trial was conducted between Khemnichak and Malahi Pakri stretch of the elevated portion of Corridor II and was supervised by engineers from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC). Speed, braking, signalling, electrification were tested between the trial run of the train.

To ensure compliance with operational standards, a detailed safety inspection was also carried out. A TOI report, citing PMRC officials, mentioned that the successful trial has brought the metro closer to commencing commercial services on the extended stretch.

A successful electrical inspection and fire safety check at Malahi Pakri station had already been completed.

Competed corridor now stands at 14.5 km with 12 stations

For the trial services, the existing operational stretch between Patliputra ISBT and Bhootnath saw a temporary suspension.

Khemnichak will now function as a major interchange station between Corridor I (East-West, Red Line) and Corridor II (North-South).

The competed corridor now stands at 14.5 km with 12 stations — five elevated and seven underground. The route will pass through major areas including Patna Junction, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University and Moin-ul-Haq Stadium.
