Two trains collided in London, throwing passengers to their feet; one dead and 50 injured
Read, Digital Desk : Two trains on Friday afternoon clashed near northern London, killing at least one passenger and injuring 50 others, according to emergency services that rushed to the scene to perform rescue operations. A passenger who spoke to local authorities indicated he was pushed to the front of the carriage, subsequently realizing his fellow passengers were suffering from broken bones and bruises. The train tracks also registered both trains travelling southward toward London’s St Pancras station at the time of the incident outside of Bedford city around 5:15 p.m.Emergency services scrambled a set of resources at the scene and including the air ambulance that belongs to the East of England Ambulance Service, and a dangerous incident which police acknowledged as “a major incident” and where “officers are responding to the scene in collaboration with colleagues from Bedfordshire Police and local Fire and Rescue and Ambulance services.” eyewitness details on how incident unfolds According to an eyewitness, the collision which occurred suddenly without warning, sent the passenger of the second-to-last coach flying from the back of the carriage to the front, “I jumped up for a moment and fell to the front seat, and then I saw smoke.People were crying and screaming. They were so scared and nervous.” added Peter Knapp, a passenger in the latter stages of the carriage, “I woke up and I saw that many people were unable to speak and their legs were broken. And then I somehow managed to get out of the train because I am quite thin, so I was able to go through the gap between the doors.”
