‘Two villains of the country, one Muslim, the other upper caste’, where is Brij Bhushan pointing?

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has sarcastically described two communities of the country as villains. He has said that in this country two communities are being considered villains, the first community is the Muslims, the second community is the upper caste. He pointed out that Muslims and upper castes are being targeted in the new era. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has said these things when his son Prateek Bhushan is the MLA from Gonda and his other son is the MP from Kaiserganj.

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party government itself. The upper castes across the country have been angry with the University Grants Commission’s decision against the Bharatiya Janata Party. Everyone’s complaint with BJP was that how can BJP knowingly bring such rules which knowingly or unknowingly are against the upper caste students. BJP has also been accused of being anti-Muslim.

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, former MP, BJP:-
Today there are two villains inside this country. I know that what I say will hurt you deeply. In their eyes the whole problem is Muslims. It is the same. But I want to say. The first villain is a Muslim. The second villain is upper caste.

How many targets is Brijbhushan hitting with one arrow?

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been hesitant in giving statements against his own party. He has criticized the Central Government regarding the rules of the University Grants Commission (UGC). He has called it a mistake. After allegations of sexual harassment, BJP is keeping distance from him. Kaiserganj is his electoral stronghold, yet BJP has fielded his son Karan Bhushan in his place. Marginalized them. This thing has been bothering Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh since then. He has clearly announced that he will contest the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and will contest from Kaiserganj only. His statements are being seen as putting pressure on BJP.

Why are Muslims and upper caste people being called villains?

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh is a solid politician. He never gives any outspoken statement against Muslims. He even says that some people from his lineage also became Muslims in Kaiserganj itself. Bains are Muslims in Kaiserganj. The Muslim population in Kaiserganj is about 25 percent. Apart from BJP’s support base, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also has his own support base. BJP is a Hindutva party, a large section of Muslims in other seats of the state do not like BJP yet Muslims vote in support of BJP in Kaiserganj. Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Muslim-Yadav’ equation also does not work in Kaiserganj. Brij Bhushan has expressed through gestures that whatever be the stand of the party, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is with the Muslim community.

On the other hand, there is also a reason to take a jibe at the upper castes. Brijbhushan is said to be the leader of the upper caste. He comes from Kshatriya community but he has got the support of upper caste community. He holds rallies from Ayodhya to Gonda and is busy trying to strengthen his support base. He also goes to campaign in upper caste dominated seats a lot. Now once again he is presenting himself as a leader of the upper castes, which will increase the pressure on BJP. The decision on UGC may have been taken by the University Grants Commission but BJP remained at the center of criticism. Senior BJP leaders remained silent, Brij Bhushan protested vocally. The upper caste voters are also in a strong position in Kaiserganj. On one side the Kshatriyas are in a strong position, on the other side the Brahmins. He has been making efforts to reach out to both the communities. Now it remains to be seen how seriously the party takes his statements and whether he gets a chance in 2029 or not.
