U-turn of weather in Delhi-NCR, orange alert of storm and rain

The weather surprised people by taking a sudden turn in Delhi-NCR on Monday. In the morning there was a feeling of bright sunshine and normal heat. At the same time, by afternoon the situation completely changed. Clouds started appearing in the sky and strong winds started blowing. In view of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for the capital and advised citizens to remain alert.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of dust storm in Delhi and surrounding areas, followed by light to moderate rain and thundershowers. During this period, the wind speed can range from 50 to 70 kilometers per hour and at some places it is expected to reach 80 kilometers per hour. Due to strong winds, problems like falling of trees, damage to electric wires and reduced visibility can arise.

There is also a possibility of strong winds along with lightning and light rain in some parts of the capital. The wind speed in these areas can range from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department has clarified that ‘Orange Alert’ means that people should be prepared for bad weather in advance and avoid non-essential travel.

Message issued to alert NDMA

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued a message to alert people. It has been told that within the next three hours a storm of moderate intensity may occur at some places, in which there is a possibility of strong surface winds, light to moderate rain and hailstorm at isolated places. During this period, the wind speed can range from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of damage.

However, due to this change in the weather, people have definitely got some relief from the scorching heat. On Monday morning, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 19.4 degrees Celsius, which was near normal. A slight difference in temperature was seen in different areas of the city. The temperature was recorded at 20.4 degrees in Safdarjung, 21 degrees in Palam, 19.4 degrees at Lodhi Road and 19.5 degrees Celsius in the Ridge area. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Ayanagar was around 20 degrees Celsius.
