UAE Update: Midday break starts, parking becomes free in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi Police warns about scam

The Ministry of Human Resources and Empowerment (MOHRE) has announced that the annual midday break has started from 15 June 2026 and will continue till 15 September 2026. According to the rules, working in direct sunlight and open areas is prohibited from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm every day. This rule is being implemented continuously for the last 22 years.

It will be the responsibility of the companies to provide shady resting places, fans, clean drinking water and first-aid facilities for the workers. If a company violates this rule, a fine of up to Dh5,000 per worker and up to Dh50,000 in total can be imposed. However, important works like building roads, pouring concrete and emergency repairs of electricity and water have been kept out of this rule.

Sharjah City Municipality has informed that public parking will be free on Monday, June 15, 2026, on the occasion of Hijri New Year. But keep in mind that this facility is only for general public parking. You will have to pay in smart parking zones and paid parking areas with blue boards. The old parking rules and charges will resume from Tuesday, June 16.

Abu Dhabi police warning

Abu Dhabi Police has asked people to beware of fake websites and online platforms. These fraudsters are cheating people by using the names and logos of consumer protection agencies. Their aim is to steal people’s personal information and banking details or make them download dangerous apps.

Police have advised to check any link before clicking or making payment. Any suspicious activity can be reported by calling Aman Service number 8002626, sending a message to 2828 or through the Abu Dhabi Police smart app.

Slight change was seen in gold prices in Dubai on June 15, 2026. The price of 24 carat gold was around 508.50 dirhams per gram, while 22 carat gold was sold at around 470.75 dirhams per gram.
