Uber Ola Cab Pricing: Different fares for booking through iPhone and Android, CCPA issued notice, know the whole matter…
Uber Ola Cab Pricing: If you book a cab on Ola or Uber from Android phone or iPhone, there will be a difference in the fare. On this, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has sent a notice to cab aggregators Ola and Uber.
Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on social media that the Consumer Affairs Department has looked into the matter and has directed CCPA to investigate. Complainants had said that on some phone models, higher fares are shown, while on others, lower fares are shown.
Now Ola and Uber have been asked to clarify the process of determining the fare and the reasons for charging different fares.
Notice to cab aggregator after report of charging different fares
CCPA has sent this notice to the cab aggregator after reports that both the companies charge different fares for the same service. When passengers book a cab for the same destination, different fares are shown on Android and iPhone.
The issue came to light in December when a user shared a picture of two phones, which allegedly showed different fares for a particular location on the Uber app.
As soon as the post went viral, Uber responded to the allegations and denied it. The company attributed any difference in fare to factors including pick-up point, estimated arrival time (ETA) and drop-off point.
Apps show higher amount to regular customers (Uber Ola Cab Pricing)
After these screenshots were shared on social media, we also checked the fare from Bhopal's MP Nagar to Raja Bhoj Airport on Ola app on iPhone and Android devices. In this, the fare was showing us Rs 310-301 in Android.
On the other hand, this fare in iPhone was Rs 322-368. On checking for the second time the fare in Android was showing higher. That means in many places there is more money in Android and in many places there is more money in iPhone.
Experts say that this happens due to the behavior of the user. If you are a regular customer, you will have to pay more, no matter what device you have, because the app keeps track of your every activity.
