Uddhav Thackeray's party Shiv Sena (UBT) on Thursday Manifesto Did. The party has promised free education for boys, stabilizing prices of essential commodities and canceling the Dharavi redevelopment project. Uddhav Thackeray said most of the election promises are part of the manifesto of the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) but there are some points which need special attention.
Free education for boys on the lines of girls
Uddhav said that the opposition alliance MVA will release its manifesto soon. This alliance includes Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP). Voting is held simultaneously for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra on November 20. Counting of votes will take place on 23 November. Uddhav Thackeray said that the way girl students in Maharashtra are getting free education under the government policy. If MVA comes to power, it will provide free education to boys also.
Dharavi redevelopment project will be canceled
Uddhav said that the Dharavi redevelopment project will be canceled as the project will impact Mumbai. He said that housing policy will also be made keeping in mind the rapid urbanization taking place in Maharashtra and Mumbai. Thackeray said that if the MVA came to power, it would cancel the cluster development of Koliwada and Gauthans. This will be done after taking people into confidence. The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also said that his party will work towards employment generation.
How was the performance in the last two elections?
Maha Vikas Aghadi is contesting the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The grand alliance includes BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress (NCP). Shiv Sena had won 63 seats in the 2014 assembly elections. Congress got success on 42 seats and NCP on 41 seats. Independents had won on seven seats. BJP had hoisted its flag on maximum 122 seats.
The 2019 assembly elections were contested by BJP and Shiv Sena together. BJP won 105 seats and Shiv Sena won 56 seats. But both the parties could not agree on the post of CM and the alliance broke. NCP had won 54 seats and Congress had won 44 seats.
