New Delhi: Charles Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler via unanimous decision at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York on November 17, Sunday. Both fighters put on a performance of the night as Chandler was going all-out in the fight but Oliveira was using his fight IQ in the bout.
The fight started with Chandler throwing some fiery punches but Oliveira defended that comfortably. In the middle of the fight, Oliveira took down Chandler and didn’t give him a chance to escape.
Oliveira landed some nasty leg kicks early in round two. Chandler was also targeting the body of Oliveira but Oliveira countered with a big combination, that last punch caught Chandler and he slipped to the ground. Oliveira was leading with two rounds after the end of the second round.
Oliveira was not given any chance to Chandler in the fight as he started the third round with fast kicks to the body and leg of Chandler. Chandler countered with good leg kicks but Oliveira caught him with an uppercut. Whenever Chandler hurt Oliveira, Oliveira went for the takedown in the bout.
The round four also went for the former champion as Oliveira dominated Chandler and tried to submit him but Chandler was escaping well through the attack.
The craziest part of the fight started in the round five. Oliveira hit a knee to the body of Chandler but he countered with a front kick. Chandler struck a clean right hook and then a left hook and that hurt Oliveira. Chandler didn’t stop there he started hitting hammer fists to knock out Oliveira.
Chandler was dominating in the ground and pound, Oliveira attempted a triangle choke but failed to do so, and then both fighters were on their feet in the last two minutes of the fight. Oliveira holds back of Chandler and then Chandler gets up with Oliveira on his back and gives a back slam to him twice.
