Ujjain: 5 officers and employees suspended in wall collapse incident near Mahakal temple.

Ujjain: After the death of two people in the incident of wall collapse near the famous Mahakaleshwar temple, the administration has taken strict action and suspended five officers and employees. Ajay Yogi (27) and Farheen Rathod (22) lost their lives while two others were injured when part of the boundary wall of a building in front of the Mahakal temple collapsed due to heavy rain on Friday evening, officials said. The incident occurred when the victims were packing up their temporary shop.

Taking this accident seriously, the district administration suspended Mahakal police station in-charge Ajay Verma and beat in-charge sub-inspector Bharat Singh Nigwal with immediate effect. Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said that both the officers have been found guilty of negligence in the security and monitoring of the area, due to which this action has been taken against them.

Apart from this, Ujjain Municipal Corporation has also taken strict steps in this matter. Municipal Corporation chief Ashish Pathak, on the instructions of District Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh, suspended Deputy Engineer Gopal Boyat and anti-encroachment team in-charge Manish Bali. The suspension order states that the two employees were assigned the task of removing illegal encroachments around the Mahakaleshwar temple, but they failed to perform this duty.

The fifth suspended officer is Mahakaleshwar Temple security officer and platoon commander (home guard) Dilip Bamania, who has also been accused of negligence. District Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh said that further action will be taken after receiving the detailed investigation report of this incident. The administration has expressed its concern over this incident and said that a case of illegal encroachment and security lapse has come to light in the temple premises and surrounding areas, which is being taken seriously. After the incident, action was taken on Saturday to remove all illegal temporary shops and encroachments in the areas around Mahakal Temple. The administration said that more stringent steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
