Who is Shriram Tiwari, who got land in MP for 1 rupee?
A big controversy has arisen in the politics of Madhya Pradesh regarding the lands of Ujjain. Congress has alleged that a land purchase scam has been carried out in Ujjain under the patronage of the state government. In a press conference held in Delhi on Wednesday, Congress Media Department Chairman Pawan Kheda and Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari raised serious questions on Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and the state government regarding this matter. During this, he also mentioned the trust which was given Rs 500 crore for Re 1.
Congress leaders say that the top leadership of BJP is completely silent on the way this matter has come to light. Congress alleges that no response is being given on this issue due to nexus between BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The party has demanded that the entire matter be investigated under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court so that the truth can come out.
What did Pawan Kheda allege?
Congress alleged that government land worth about Rs 500 crore in Ujjain was given to a trust called ‘Veer Bharat Trust’ at a symbolic fee of just Rs 1. The party claims that the trustee of this trust is Secretary Shriram Tiwari, who is also the cultural advisor to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
What questions did Jitu Patwari raise?
Jitu Patwari said, “On what basis was such expensive government land given to a trust? Under what rules and procedures was this decision taken? What is the source of the lands purchased and properties built by his family after becoming the Chief Minister? Shouldn’t the public be informed about this?”
He further alleged that this is just the first episode of a scam. Patwari claimed that a few days ago, in a sting operation, a case of alleged corruption worth about Rs 1000 crore through transfer industry in six departments had come to light.
What is the demand of Congress?
Congress has demanded that the complete details of all the lands purchased by the Chief Minister’s family after the year 2023 should be made public. Also, the government should issue a white paper in this regard and tell which projects were approved when and what was the complete time line of land purchase and development.
What did BJP say?
However, Bharatiya Janata Party has rejected all the allegations of Congress. MSME Minister Chetanya Kashyap in Madhya Pradesh government said that Congress is running this campaign to tarnish the image of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He said, “The Veer Bharat Trust which is being accused of grabbing land worth Rs 500 crore is not a private trust. It is a completely government trust and works under the Department of Culture.”
