UK PM Keir Starmer came out in protest against US President Trump, said- Arctic Islands were declared part of Denmark’s empire.
New Delhi. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on European countries regarding Greenland. Starmer has called this step of Trump completely wrong. Posting on Instagram, PM Starmer has reiterated Britain’s stance on Greenland. He said that the Arctic island is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Its future is in the hands of Greenlanders and Danes. He further said that Arctic security is a matter of concern for the entire NATO alliance. All member states should work together to deal with Russia across the region.

Starmer said it was completely wrong to impose tariffs on NATO allies for the sake of their collective security. We will definitely take up this matter directly with the US administration. On Saturday, Trump threatened to impose tariffs on the United Kingdom and other European countries. Unless he agrees to sell Greenland. In his post, Trump claimed that this step is necessary for national security. He cited the interest of China and Russia in this area. He offered to negotiate with European countries, but warned that if no deal was reached, tariffs would be increased to 10 percent from February 1, 2026, and 25 percent from June 1, 2026. He said that after years of America’s support, it is time for Denmark to give back.
