The Commission has said that information about the new examination dates will be released separately on the Commission’s website. The order has been issued by Secretary Ashok Kumar Pandey. The case was heard before the division bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani and Justice Alok Mehra. The court has directed the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission to release the revised result of the preliminary examination by removing one wrong question from the General Studies subject. Apart from this, a new merit list should be issued as per the regulation of the year 2022.
About 1200 candidates were declared successful for the main examination.
According to the case, Kuldeep Kumar and other candidates had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the questions of the preliminary examination. This examination was conducted for more than 120 posts including Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Finance Officer-Treasury Officer, Assistant Commissioner State Tax, State Tax Officer, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Executive Officer, Additional Chief Officer District Panchayat, District Social Welfare Officer. Its result was released on October 8. In this, about 1200 candidates were declared successful for the main examination.
The petition alleged that a question on General Studies in the preliminary examination (Uttarakhand Public Service Commission) was framed incorrectly, which affected the result. On this, the Public Service Commission also admitted in the court that one question of General Studies was wrong and should have been removed. After the hearing, the High Court temporarily stayed the proposed main examination of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. Now the further process will be decided after the release of revised preliminary result and new merit list.

Court’s instructions on controversial questions
Uttarakhand Public Service Commission said that three other questions and their options were also declared wrong by the petitioner. On this, the court gave clear instructions and said that question number 70 should be removed completely. The remaining three disputed questions should be investigated by an expert committee. The Court also said that unless a fair investigation of these questions is completed and the merit list is properly re-determined, it would not be appropriate to conduct the main examination.
