Umesh Yadav expresses frustration after going unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction

Indian right-arm fast bowler Umesh Yadavwho has been a staple in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2010, has expressed his disbelief after going unsold during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Yadav, who has been a consistent performer for over a decade, voiced his shock and frustration, particularly after playing 148 matches and taking 144 wickets throughout his IPL career.

Yadav has expressed his shock and disappointment for not being picked in the IPL 2025 mega auction, despite having played for 15 years and participating in nearly 150 matches. He admitted that the exclusion was upsetting and felt it was difficult to accept.

“Everyone knows that I wasn’t selected for the IPL this year. I have been playing for 15 years. It is very shocking for me. Why should I lie? It feels bad. After playing so much and playing close to 150 IPL matches, you don’t get selected. It’s shocking,” Yadav said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Umesh Yadav acknowledge the franchise’s decisions but expresses discontent

The right-arm bowler attributed the decision to franchise strategies or the timing of his name being called when they had no money left. Despite his disappointment, he acknowledged that he couldn’t change the decisions made by others.

“It’s upon the franchises and their strategies, or my name came late in the auction, and they weren’t left with money. Regardless, something has happened. I am very frustrated and disturbed. But still, it’s okay. I can’t change anyone’s decision,” he added.

Yadav’s IPL journey has spanned 15 years, with notable stints at multiple franchises. He made his IPL debut in 2010 for Delhi Capitals and went on to represent several teams, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Over the years, he has been an integral part of his team’s bowling attacks, known for his pace and wicket-taking ability. His best IPL season came in 2022 when he took 16 wickets in 12 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, showcasing his skill at the highest level.
