UN: ‘Attacks on ships and disrupting movement in Hormuz are unacceptable’, India bluntly in UN

New York. India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations P. Harish presented India’s view on the energy and fertilizer crisis amid the West Asia conflict. They expressed concern over maritime security and constraints on freedom of movement in the Strait of Hormuz. Harish described targeting commercial ships and endangering civilian crew as unacceptable. India also stressed that international laws related to safe sea routes should be fully followed.

    Iran has announced a professional mechanism to regulate maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s parliament’s NSC chief Ebrahim Azizi told ‘X’ that the mechanism will be unveiled soon. It is developed under the national sovereignty of Iran, with the aim of ensuring the security of international trade. Only commercial vessels cooperating with Iran will benefit from this mechanism. This route will remain closed for operators associated with the ‘Independence Project’.
