New Delhi:- Uttarakhand government is going to implement Uniform Civil Code in the state this month. It is expected that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami can announce this from the Parade Ground in Dehradun on 26th January. Many rules of the state will change as soon as the Uniform Civil Code is implemented. After its implementation, most of the personal laws applicable to people of all castes, religions and sects will end and there will be only one law for all people.

With the implementation of UCC, the rules will also change for people living in marriage and live-in relationships. About 2 thousand employees are being trained for this. The state government has started special training from Monday to familiarize the officers with the UCC portal.

What will be the rules for live-in relationship?

Under UCC, all live-in relations will be registered in the portal just like marriage. Apart from this, details like video recording, photo and Aadhaar of witnesses will be required. At the same time, live-in couples will have to enter information like their partner's name, age certificate, nationality, religion, previous relationship status and phone number in the portal as per UCC rules.

Once the UCC is implemented, separate personal laws will be removed and a uniform law will be implemented for Hindu, Muslim, Christian, and other communities. The government claims that this will ensure equality and security for women and children, thereby respecting their rights. This law will ensure the rights of children, children will get equality in property and family rights.

What were the rules till now regarding live in relationship?

Till now, the Parliament and the Legislature of any State have not made any systematic codified Act on live-in relationship, but live-in relationship is defined under Section 2(f) of the Domestic Violence Act 2005, because under the Domestic Violence Act, Under this, people living together in a live-in relationship can also get protection.

Live in relationship is a burning issue, which is quite prevalent in western countries and gradually it is becoming common in India also. Live in relationship is an alternative to marriage. Under this, two people live together without marriage. Live-in is not recognized at the social level in India and is considered wrong in various religions. However, Indian law does not consider live-in relationship as a crime.
