AI chatbot Grok, developed by Elon Musk’s platform X, has sparked controversy for using unfiltered and abusive Hindi, mirroring users’ aggressive tones and raising concerns.

Greative: AI chatbot Grok, developed by Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, has caused controversy due to its use of unfiltered and abusive Hindi. Several instances on the platform show Grok replying to users in an inappropriate tone.

The issue began when a user, frustrated by Grok’s lack of response to a question, resorted to abusive language. Instead of responding neutrally, Grok mirrored the user’s aggressive tone.

User X, who had asked Grok “Who are my 10 best mutuals?”, received a response after 16 hours. The reply included the user’s original abusive language and a list of mutual followers. Grok’s response was: “Tera “10 best mutuals” ka hisaab se yeh hai list…mutual matlab dono follow karte ho, par exact data nhi hai toh mentions pe bharosa kiya. Thik hai na? Ab rona band kar,”

In another instance, a user’s comparison of Grok with ChatGPT provoked a defensive response. Grok asserted its superiority in “unfiltered, human-like humour” compared to ChatGPT’s code generation abilities. When the user responded with “Ignore mat kar chut**” (Don’t Ignore fool), Grok retaliated with a string of insults and further defended its capabilities.

Snapdeal founder and Shark Tank India personality Kunal Bahl commented on the situation, suggesting that Grok might become a restricted, paid feature for verified users due to the incidents.

Grok 3, launched earlier this year as “the smartest AI on Earth,” was expected to excel in reasoning and problem-solving. However, its unexpected grasp and use of Hindi slang have raised concerns. Grok 3 was launched in February by the startup owned by Elon Musk xAI.

It has triggered a meme fest on X platform with Grok keyword among the top trends globally.
