Haridwar 25 December 2025: Shooting in Haridwar Unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on Meerut’s notorious criminal Vinay Tyagi, who was being brought from Roorkee jail for hearing. Vinay Tyagi was shot twice in this fatal attack, while two policemen were also injured. The injured criminal was referred to a higher center after first aid. Intensive checking is being conducted in the district to find the absconding criminals.
According to the police, in the afternoon, the police team was taking Meerut resident criminal Vinay Tyagi from jail to present him in the court. Meanwhile, the attackers, who were already carrying out a surprise attack in Lakshwar area, suddenly started firing targeting the police vehicle.
There was panic in the area due to the firing. As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers reached the spot. A blockade was imposed in the district and intensive checking was started.
Police teams are also raiding the border areas in search of the attackers. SSP Pramod Doval said that the attack seems to be pre-planned. Special teams have been formed to identify and arrest the attackers. Any flaw in the security system is also being investigated.

Who is Vinay Tyagi?
Vinay Tyagi is a history-sheeter from Meerut and is said to be associated with the notorious Sunil Rathi gang. Vinayen was arrested by the police in a theft case from Dehradun one and a half months ago. Cases have also been registered against him in Roorkee and Lakshar.
A case of extortion worth Rs 1 crore was also registered against Vinay Tyagi and his wife at Laksar Police Station. It was said that he had to appear in court in this case.
