Tourism Minister's statement, said- There will be tremendous benefits if tourism is linked to the marriage industry.

New Delhi : Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has given a big statement regarding the wedding industry. In which he has clearly said that there is a lot of potential in the marriage related business in India and it can play an important role in increasing the economic growth of the country.

Shekhawat was addressing a gathering here after inaugurating the first 'Wedding Tourism Summit and Exhibition' organized by industry body PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry i.e. PHDCCI. He said that in terms of age, about 54 percent of India's population is below 30 years of age. Indian families spend a large part of their income on weddings.

Immense possibilities for wedding industry

According to the statement issued by the Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Minister said in this program, “If we consider the population aged 25 years and below, then about 68 crore people in the country will get married in the next few years. Will be able to do it. In this way immense possibilities are created for the wedding industry.”

This sector is getting growth

He said that the wedding industry is poised to become an important operator of the country's economic growth. “If we combine tourism with the wedding industry and take advantage of the existing basic infrastructure, we can increase the growth of this sector manifold,” he said.

Tourism development on mission mode

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to develop tourism in a mission mode, the ministry had launched an ambitious campaign in August last year to showcase India as a leading wedding destination on the global platform.

Immense possibilities of tourism

Prime Minister Modi had said last year that the country needs a movement like 'Wed in India' on the lines of 'Made in India'. PHDCCI President Hemant Jain said that there is immense potential for tourism with the increasing trend of destination wedding along with Grand Indian Wedding. Jain said, “The global wedding industry is valued at $300 billion, of which the Indian market alone is worth $50 billion and is growing at 20-25 percent annually.
