Managing expenses has become a challenge, especially for many working people living in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. In all of this, if you are told to do things in your life that will save you money. You won’t need to change any of your habits for this. A resident of Bangalore shares some simple habits that are helping him save money without making major compromises in his daily routine.

A person named Akshay CN has shared some tips on his Instagram page @bangalore_viral. In the video, he narrates how, by making small changes in his lifestyle and spending habits, he reduced unnecessary expenses while maintaining his lifestyle. Akshay captioned the post, “How I reduced my expenses in Bangalore without compromising on my lifestyle.”

Staying near metro is most economical

First of all, Akshay did not choose an expensive or luxurious locality for his residence, instead preferring to stay near a metro station. Akshay wrote, “I decided to stay near the metro instead of moving to a ‘luxurious’ area. Initially the fare was a bit high, but it saved me a lot of money on daily commute, petrol and auto fare and it also reduced my mental stress.” He explained that the reduced travel time and transportation costs made a significant difference in his monthly expenses.

Convenience cost reduction

Akshay explained that while living in Bangalore, he gradually started reducing his convenience expenses. Quick delivery, auto subscriptions and small online purchases gradually increased his monthly expenses. Instead of doing last minute shopping, Akshay started planning his entire weekend in advance.
Akshay says that going to a cafe or pub without thinking, spending on something that comes to mind, all these things affect your savings unconsciously. Akshay added, “Instead of spending on just this one thing, I started planning my weekend. Visiting cafes, pubs and spending just for this unplanned trip can deplete the savings much sooner than people in Bangalore think.”

Pressure to maintain a lifestyle

In the video, Akshay also spoke about the pressure people in Bengaluru’s work culture are under to constantly improve their lifestyle. Many people here spend money just to look updated or to keep up with the trends around them.
Akshay explained that unlike others, he has stopped upgrading his gadgets. Cooking at home instead of relying on restaurants and online food delivery every day has also had a significant impact on his savings and health. At the end of his post, Akshay wrote that a higher salary alone does not solve your financial problems. Good habits are more important.
