Obra/Sonbhadra-
A wonderful example of devotion and service can be seen at the famous Hanuman Temple (Subhash Square) of Obra, the energy capital of the district. The weekly Khichdi Bhandara run by Shri Ram Seva Samiti has now become not just a distribution program but a mega-campaign of Nar Seva Narayan Seva for the area.
The foundation of this holy Seva Yatra was laid on 23 August 2025 on the auspicious occasion of Shani Amavasya. Under the able leadership of founder journalist Ajit Singh, this project is running continuously from 5:00 pm every Saturday without any interruption. Seeing the dedication of Shri Singh, today every section of the society is joining this campaign. The biggest feature of the Bhandara is its cleanliness and the dedication of the servants.
Omprakash Singh and Rita Kumari themselves take charge from making Khichdi to cutting vegetables. Imbibing the principle of Karma is Pooja, the Prasad here is prepared in a very sattvik manner. A group of experienced mentors and energetic youth are active day and night in making this noble work successful. Prominent associates include names like Guardian Baburam Singh, Guardian Om Prakash Singh, Sankat Mochan Jha, Rahul Pratap Singh. Sarvesh Dubey, Aditya Verma (Lakshmi Jewellers), Shiv Kumar (Pahari Baba), Avinash Srivastava, Vijay Yadav, Chandan Soni. Sarita Singh, Rita Kumari, Pushpa Dubey, Ranjit Tiwari, Ram Ashray Bind, Anil Gupta, Karan Jagle and Manoj Kumar who are without any desire for any position. Are continuously providing their services.
During the Bhandara, the officials present collectively reiterated the pledge that the main goal of the committee is to provide nutritious food to the people standing at the last rung of the society and to promote mutual harmony. Every Saturday evening has now become not just a time for Prasad distribution for the residents of Obra, but a major center of devotion and service.
