The company officially launched Unity Go 2 on July 12, 2023. This is the company’s second-generation consumer-grade robot dog. Earlier in 2021, the Go 1 model was introduced. The Go 2 was launched in the market as a smarter, more stable and relatively affordable option. It has embedded AI technology, which enables the robot to understand its surrounding environment and respond accordingly. Many people associate it with intelligence like GPT, although it is specifically designed for physical interaction and movement.
What can this robot do?
Go2 is a quadruped i.e. four-legged robot, which can maintain balance even on rough roads. It has advanced sensors, 3D LiDAR and AI-based navigation system. It can identify and avoid obstacles coming in its path. Apart from this, it can understand voice commands, do object tracking and move automatically. Research labs, universities and tech startups are using it for experiments and robotics development.
How much is the price in India?
Although it is not officially sold in India, its estimated price can be understood on the basis of international price.
- The starting price of the Go2 Air variant is around US $ 1,600, which comes to around Rs 1.4 to 1.5 lakh in Indian currency.
- The price of Go2 Pro variant is around US $ 2,800, i.e. approximately Rs 2.3 to 2.5 lakh.
Apart from this, shipping charges ranging from $399 to $1,000 may have to be paid separately. If we compare, the price of industrial grade robots is much higher than this. The price of advanced models like B1 and B2 of the company reaches around 1 lakh dollars. In such a situation, Go2 is being considered a relatively affordable and accessible option.
Why did the discussion suddenly increase?
Its live demo caught people’s attention at the Delhi Tech Event. The robot’s balance, fast movements and smart responses impressed the audience. Its popularity increased further after its video went viral on social media.
