That ‘wretched’ title due to which 9 Bollywood films were in bad shape, some went missing and some ended their careers!

Bollywood Unluckiest Title: From Bollywood to South cinema, many such films have been made which had the same name but had different stories and characters. In some cases, the same title proved lucky for many films, while there were some titles which were considered unlucky in the industry. In such a situation, today we are telling you about one such film title, on which all the films made in the last 45 years failed at the box office.

Due to the flop of films made with this title, the career of some actor came to a halt, some went under mental pressure, and at some places the makers had to suffer huge financial losses. This is the reason why a kind of perception was formed in the film industry regarding this title.

loss at the box office

Actually, the title we are talking about is ‘Karz’. The first film with this name in Bollywood was released in the year 1980, which was directed by Subhash Ghai. Rishi Kapoor, Raj Kiran, Tina Munim and Simi Grewal were seen in the film. Today, even though ‘Karz’ has achieved the status of a cult film, at the time of its release it was a huge flop at the box office and was able to earn only about Rs 4 crore at that time.

Rishi Kapoor had revealed in his autobiography that the poor performance of the film affected his mental health and he went into depression for some time. However, the popularity of the film increased with time, but due to its flop, negative discussion started about this title.

Raj Kiran’s sudden disappearance becomes a mystery

Actor Raj Kiran, who played an important role in ‘Karz’, has also been in the news for a long time. He suddenly disappeared from the film industry about 31 years ago. His last film was released in 1990. Later, many rumors came to light about him, which were denied by the family. In 2011, Raj Kiran’s daughter had told that her father was of a very private nature and wanted to keep the family away from the limelight.

Sunny Deol and Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Karz’

In the year 2002, the film ‘Karz: The Burden of Truth’ was released, in which Sunny Deol and Shilpa Shetty were seen. This film also failed at the box office and could earn only about Rs 15 crore.

After this, in 2008, the remake of ‘Karz’ was made, ‘Karzzzz’, in which Himesh Reshammiya was in the lead role. Made with a budget of around Rs 24 crore, this film could earn only Rs 16 crore. According to reports, the makers associated with this film had to suffer huge financial losses. Urmila Matondkar was also seen in the film and after this failure, the pace of her film career also slowed down.

A total of 9 films were made with the name ‘Karz’, all were unsuccessful.

Apart from these films, many such films were made whose title included the word ‘Debt’, but none were successful at the box office. These include ‘Karz Tere Khoon Ka’, ‘Doodh Ka Karz’ (1990), ‘Pyaar Ka Karz’, ‘Karz Chukna Hai’, ‘Mahan Karz’ and ‘Doodh Ka Karz’ (2016). It is said that some of these films could not even touch the Rs 5 crore mark at the box office. In such a situation, due to continuous flop films, the word ‘Karz’ started being seen as an unlucky title in Bollywood, and this is the reason that with time the makers started distancing themselves from this name.
