Unseen, unstoppable… Hezbollah’s new attack with fiber-optic drones, a major threat to Israel’s security!
New Delhi. Tensions in the Middle East are once again taking a dangerous turn… Hezbollah has now deployed drone technology that is neither easily visible on radar nor stopped by jamming… This new tactic has posed a fresh challenge to Israel’s security apparatus.
Amid the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, a new weapon of war has emerged: fiber-optic guided drones. These small, yet extremely dangerous drones are directly connected to their operators via thin cables. This makes them virtually impossible to counter through electronic jamming.
According to Robert Tolst, a drone expert at the Royal United Services Institute in London, if the operator is properly trained, these drones can prove to be “extremely lethal.” They fly at very low altitudes and stealthily approach their targets.
Israeli officials believe Hezbollah adopted this technology because Israel’s air defenses are robust against conventional drones and missiles… These new drones are attempting to penetrate that protective shield… It’s being reported that these drones can also be manufactured locally using ordinary drones, some explosives, and fiber-optic cable.
Former Israeli air defense chief Ran Kochav has warned that these drones are extremely difficult to detect and shoot down. They are small, fast, and fly very low… making even conventional defense systems unable to react quickly.
Challenge of protection
: According to experts, there are only two ways to protect against these drones: either destroy them in flight or cut their almost invisible cables, but both the options are not easy.
In view of this threat, the Israeli army is now taking measures like installing nets and protective shields on its military vehicles… along with this, work is also being done rapidly on developing new technology.
Connection with Ukraine
Actually, this technology has developed rapidly during the Russia-Ukraine War. Both sides there are constantly experimenting with drone technology… In some cases, drones with 50-kilometer long cables have also been seen. These new drones of Hezbollah are not just a weapon, but a changing picture of modern warfare where the more advanced the technology, the more invisible and deadly the threat. Now the question is this: will Israel be able to respond to this new challenge in time?
