‘It is necessary for the driver to take 8 hours of sleep before night duty, safety of passengers is paramount’; Said- CM Yogi
UP News: In view of the autumn and winter season in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has become completely alert regarding the safety of passengers. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Transport Department has issued strict and clear guidelines for bus operation across the state. The objective of these instructions is to provide safe, orderly and uninterrupted transportation facilities to the passengers during fog and low visibility.
Buses should be operated with caution – Dayashankar Singh
Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh has ordered the Transport Corporation and concerned officials to operate buses with utmost care in foggy conditions. He clarified that the maximum speed of buses should not exceed 40 kilometers per hour in fog. If visibility becomes extremely low, the bus should be stopped at a safe place and wait for the situation to become normal.
These changes will come to bus stands
Keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, instructions have been given to make continuous announcements through the public address system at the bus stands, so that the passengers remain informed about the vigilance and safety measures. There are also instructions to limit night services as per requirement on routes with dense fog.
Only drivers with good records should be deployed
The Transport Minister said that only experienced, accident-free and good record drivers should be deployed in night services. It should also be ensured that the driver gets at least 8 hours of complete rest before night duty. Instructions have been given to temporarily suspend night bus services with load factor less than 50 percent.
Technical investigation is also mandatory
Technical inspection has been made mandatory before leaving long distance and night buses. Fog lights, retro reflective tape, wipers, all-weather bulbs and mirrors should be in perfect condition in all buses. Besides, alcohol test of drivers through breath analyzer has also been made mandatory by the enforcement team deployed on the route.
Special training to all drivers and conductors
The Transport Minister said that instructions have been given to drive buses with different precautions on expressways, roads with dividers and those without dividers. All drivers and conductors will be given special training on these rules. He reiterated that taking the passengers to their destination safely is the top priority of the Yogi government.
