UP By-election: NDA announced names of candidates on all nine seats, Suresh Awasthi made candidate from Sisamau seat.
Lucknow. The names of candidates have been announced for all the by-elections on nine seats of UP Assembly to be held on November 13. On Thursday evening, BJP has nominated Suresh Awasthi from Sisamau Assembly Seat of Kanpur Nagar. In the last three assembly elections, Irfan Solanki contested from Sisamau Assembly Seat on Samajwadi Party ticket and won. In one case, the court sentenced him and Irfan had to lose the membership of the assembly. This is a Muslim dominated seat. This seat has been dominated by SP or rather Solanki family.

Many names were being discussed in BJP for Sisamau Assembly Seat. The names of Neetu Singh, daughter of former MP Satyadev Pachauri, and Rakesh Sonkar were at the forefront. There was a demand for Lok Sabha ticket for Neetu Singh also. After that there was lobbying for the Mayor also but the matter could not be resolved. Apart from Neetu, discussion about another name was in full swing. This was the name of old Bharatiya Janata Party worker Neeraj Chaturvedi.
When did which party register victory?
From 2012 to 2022, Irfan Solanki won the Sisamau Assembly seat thrice. Earlier in 2002 and 2007, Sanjeev Daryabadi won from here on Congress ticket. Earlier this seat was held by BJP in 1991, 1993 and 1996. Rakesh Sonkar won all three times. Earlier in 1989, Shiv Kumar Baria had won from here on Janata Dal ticket. At the same time, in 1980 and 1985, Kamla Daryabadi had hoisted the flag of victory. He contested the elections on Congress ticket. Earlier this seat was held by Janata Party in 1977 and Congress in 1974.
