UP Cabinet: Yogi cabinet gave new direction to higher education, took two important decisions, another private university got approval

Lucknow . In the meeting of the Council of Ministers held under the chairmanship of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, two important decisions were taken on Friday to strengthen higher education in the state. Under this, it has been decided to operate 71 newly constructed/under-construction colleges as government colleges, while approval has also been given for the formation of Vivek University in Bijnor district. These decisions will prove to be a milestone in the direction of providing quality and affordable higher education in the state.

State status to 71 colleges, historic initiative

After the meeting, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that currently 171 government colleges are run by the department. Of these, 71 colleges are newly constructed or under construction. Of these, 17 were selected as organizing colleges. Earlier these were operated by universities. Recently, some universities had expressed their inability to run them smoothly. After which a proposal was brought that now 71 colleges will be run directly by the state government. Till now people were hired on contract basis, now 71 principal posts will be created in all 71 colleges and 1136 assistant professor posts, 639 class three and 710 class four posts will be created on 16-16 basis in each college. This will provide employment opportunities and will also increase the quality of education.

Vivek University will open in Bijnor

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that Vivek University in Bijnor has been granted operation authorization letter. With this, operation of another private university will start in the state. This will promote healthy competition, which will further enhance the quality of government universities. He said that in the last two-two and a half years, universities with the highest grades have emerged in UP. At present, 7 universities of UP are A Double Plus, 4 A Plus in NAAC grading. With this, 6 private universities have been included in A Plus and 4 private universities have been included in A grade. He told that earlier no university of UP was even in the top 500. Today three universities of the state have come in the top 100. The minister said that the Yogi government aims to open one university each in all the districts of the state in the next 5 years.
