Lucknow: The June electricity bill in Uttar Pradesh is going to give a ‘shock’ to the consumers. Electricity will be expensive in the state in June. Consumers will have to pay 10 percent additional amount in the electricity bill for June. This increase has been made under ‘fuel surcharge’. Now 10 percent additional charge will be added to the electricity bill for June. This amount will be taken along with the electricity bill for June.

Electricity consumers of UP will have to pay 10% additional amount of fuel charge in the bill in June. This increase in electricity bill amidst huge power shortage and cuts is going to shock the consumers. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) has decided to charge surcharge along with the electricity bill for June.
Cost of electricity production and purchase increased
In the month of June in Uttar Pradesh, when electricity consumption will naturally increase due to heat, the 10 percent extra amount in the bill will affect lakhs of consumers. It is said that the cost of production and purchase of electricity has increased. To compensate for this, fuel surcharge is being imposed in the month of June. This amount will be recovered from the consumers only.

Due to increase in fuel surcharge by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), consumers will have to pay 10 percent additional amount in the electricity bill for June. This means that if your electricity bill is Rs 1000, then if you consume the same amount of electricity in June, you will have to pay Rs 1100 in the bill. This additional fee will be added to the bill for the month of June.
Director-IT of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation has written a letter to the corporation officials in this regard. In this he has said that Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge (FPPAS) is to be imposed from the month of June, 2026. He has requested to implement it for all categories of consumers as per the provisions of the regulation. It is certain that the electricity bills of consumers will increase by 10 percent in the month of June, but even after that, will the amount of surcharge be charged? The Electricity Regulatory Commission will decide in this regard in the next review. If the cost of power generation and purchase does not come down, the electricity bill will be as usual.
