UP government announces, village head will remain administrator till elections

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision regarding Gram Panchayats. Till the Panchayat elections are held in the state, the existing village head will continue to work as the administrator. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved this proposal of Panchayati Raj Department. It is believed that soon an official order in this regard will also be issued.

Let us tell you that the tenure of village heads in the state is ending on 25th May. In such a situation, the situation regarding the functioning of Panchayats was not clear, but now after the government’s decision, the functioning of Gram Panchayats will continue as before.

Administrative committee will be formed for the first time

For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, preparations have been made to form administrative committees in gram panchayats. The objective of the government is to continue the development work and administrative system of Panchayats without any interruption. Under this, the responsibility of Panchayats will be handed over to the existing village heads only. This system will be implemented in more than 57 thousand gram panchayats of the state. This will have a direct impact on development schemes, cleanliness, road construction and other local works in Panchayats.

Panchayat elections will be held after assembly elections

According to media reports, now Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh are likely to be held after the 2027 assembly elections. For this reason, the government has decided to keep the heads as administrators as an interim arrangement. There was speculation about the Panchayat elections for a long time, but after this decision of the government, the picture has become clear to a great extent. This will not cause any hindrance in the administrative work at the Panchayat level.

Development work will continue in Gram Panchayats

The government believes that if the administrative system in the Panchayats was left vacant, development schemes and public welfare work could have been affected. Therefore, this decision has been taken so that the operation of government schemes continues continuously in rural areas. This decision is being considered important at the political and administrative level. In the coming time, new arrangements can also be decided regarding the role and administrative responsibilities of Panchayats.
