UP government’s gift to brides, they will be able to buy anklets and toe rings for their wedding.
Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is taking many schemes and steps for every section. Many types of schemes are being run by the UP government especially regarding women. Be it girls or women. From education to marriage, the UP government is giving them some kind of gift through various schemes. In this context, now the Yogi government has made an important change in the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme and has decided to give more rights and facilities to the beneficiary brides.
Yes, now the government will not purchase some of the traditional gifts received under the scheme, rather the amount fixed for this will be sent directly to the bride’s bank account. After this new arrangement, brides will be able to buy anklets and toe rings as per their choice and need.
What is the new change in the plan?
Under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, the state government spends a total of Rs 1 lakh on each couple. Earlier, out of this amount, 60 thousand rupees were sent directly to the bride’s bank account, while 25 thousand rupees were spent on the purchase of wedding gifts and other necessary items. Apart from this, Rs 15,000 were earmarked for the wedding ceremony and other arrangements.
Now, making changes in this system, the government has decided to send Rs 4,000 earmarked for the purchase of anklets and toe rings directly to the bride’s account. After this, the amount received in the bride’s account will increase from Rs 60 thousand to Rs 64 thousand.
You will be able to buy gifts as per your choice
The biggest benefit of the new system will be that the bride will now be able to buy jewelery as per her choice and requirement. Earlier, the Social Welfare Department used to provide 30 grams of silver anklets and 10 grams of toe rings as gifts to every newly married couple. About Rs 4 thousand were spent for this.
But in recent years there has been a continuous increase in the prices of silver. At present the price of silver has reached approximately Rs 2.5 lakh per kg. In such a situation, it was becoming challenging to provide quality jewelery within the stipulated budget. For this reason the government has chosen the path of direct cash transfer.
Beneficiaries will get more control
Experts believe that this Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) based step will not only increase transparency but will also give the beneficiaries the right to take financial decisions. This will also reduce the administrative complexities in the process of purchasing gifts and the benefits will reach the eligible people directly.
Target of 1563 marriages in Lucknow
According to the Social Welfare Department, this year a target of marriage of 1563 couples has been set under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme in Lucknow district. About 600 applications have been received so far. The department says that the application process is completely online and eligible families can apply sitting at home.
Steps towards social empowerment
Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme is one of the major schemes of the state government to provide assistance in marriage of daughters of economically weaker families. The new system will not only provide more convenience to the beneficiaries, but will also increase the transparency and effectiveness of the scheme. The government believes that this will directly benefit needy families and help in reducing the financial burden related to marriage.
