UP government’s new initiative for farmers, irrigation will become easier with trolley mounted solar pump
UP Government: Irrigation system in farming is one of the biggest challenges for farmers, especially when their fields are in different places. In such a situation, it becomes very difficult to take the pump set from one field to another and arrange water. Keeping this problem in mind, the Uttar Pradesh government has started the Trolley Mount Solar Pump Scheme for farmers.
Under this scheme, farmers will be able to irrigate their fields with the help of solar pumps at low cost. With this, they will not have to depend on electricity or diesel and the cost of farming will also reduce.
Features of trolley mounted solar pump
The biggest feature of this scheme is that the solar pump will be installed on a trolley. Farmers can easily take this trolley from one field to another.
This facility is especially useful for those farmers whose land is at different places. This pump running on solar energy will be able to supply water to the fields without electricity connection or diesel.
The Minor Irrigation Department has set a target to distribute 23 trolley mounted solar pumps in Mirzapur district in the financial year 2025-26. These pumps will be mainly used for irrigation from check dams and ponds.
How much does solar pump cost?
According to the Minor Irrigation Department, a 2 horse power solar pump will be installed under the scheme. The price of this pump is said to be around Rs 1 lakh 44 thousand 526.
Apart from this, there is an additional cost of about Rs 75 thousand in installing the trolley. In this way the total cost of the entire system reaches approximately Rs 2 lakh 19 thousand 526. However, due to the subsidy being given by the government, the burden on the farmers will be reduced significantly.
Government is giving huge subsidy
Under this scheme, farmers are being given huge financial benefits. About 60 percent subsidy will be given on the cost of solar pump, while about 90 percent subsidy will be given on the trolley.
After government assistance, farmers will have to pay only a small part of the total cost. Under the scheme, farmers will have to deposit a farmer’s share of about Rs 76 thousand, which will be deposited in the Minor Irrigation Department through bank draft.
Application Process and Benefits
To avail the benefits of the scheme, farmers will have to apply online. The allocation of pumps will be done on “first come, first served” basis, hence the department has appealed to the interested farmers to apply soon.
Experts believe that schemes like solar pumps can prove to be very beneficial for farmers. This will save diesel and electricity, reduce the cost of farming and will not harm the environment.
If this scheme is implemented on a large scale, then farmers will be able to get modern and affordable irrigation facilities, which is expected to increase the productivity of farming.
