UP Government’s order, this work will be done in all Gram Panchayats!

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has taken big steps regarding rural development and employment generation. State Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal has issued strict instructions to all the District Magistrates (DMs) and Chief Development Officers (CDOs) saying that a special Gram Sabha should be compulsorily organized in all the Gram Panchayats of the state on 26th December. This Gram Sabha will be organized under the Vikas Bharat-Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Gramin) and Vikas Bharat-Ji Ram Ji Yojana.

The main objective of these special Gram Sabhas is to provide complete information about the schemes to the rural people and to connect them with employment and livelihood. The Chief Secretary has clarified that detailed information about the benefits, eligibility, application process and possibilities of the schemes should be given in the Gram Sabha, so that more and more villagers can take advantage of them.

Government’s focus on self-help groups

Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal has laid special emphasis on increasing the number of Self Help Groups (SHGs). He said that there is immense potential in this field and by adopting the right strategy, more than the set targets can be achieved. He instructed the District Magistrates and CDOs to regularly review the formation of self-help groups and their empowerment.

‘Prerna Canteen’ will open in public places

The government has taken another important initiative to promote rural livelihood. The Chief Secretary has directed that ‘Prerna Canteens’ run by self-help groups should be opened at Primary Health Centers (PHC), Community Health Centers (CHC), bus stands, government offices and other public places.

Through these canteens, where people will get cheap and clean food, self-help groups will also get a source of permanent income. This initiative is considered important towards promoting women empowerment and self-employment.
