UP School Holiday List: New order for holidays in schools of UP, know for how long will schools remain closed in your city?

Lucknow: The new year has started in Uttar Pradesh with bone-chilling cold and dense fog. Icy winds and falling mercury have increased the problems of school children. In view of this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a big decision. CM Yogi issued an order on Friday that all schools from class 1 to 12 of all the boards of the state (ICSE, CBSE, UP Board and others) will now remain closed till January 5.

CM Yogi’s strict instructions to officials

In view of the increasing cold wave, the Chief Minister has not only closed the schools but has also asked the administration to be on high alert. He has instructed the officers to personally go to the field to inspect and distribute blankets to the needy. CM has clearly said that no person should be forced to sleep in the open and concrete arrangements should be made to stay in night shelters.

Tremendous cold wave hits UP

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a large part of Uttar Pradesh is currently in the grip of severe cold. Due to dense fog and temperatures much lower than normal, people’s lives have become disrupted. The Meteorological Department has warned that there will be ‘very dense fog’ during night and morning hours in western and eastern Uttar Pradesh till January 5. In some areas, visibility is going to be so low that even hand movement will not be possible.

Traffic halted due to zero visibility

Fog is breaking in many districts of UP. The effect of fog is expected to be most visible on January 2, 3 and 4, due to which road, rail and air traffic may be severely affected. Zero visibility has been recorded in districts of eastern UP like Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Azamgarh.

Same is the situation in Western UP, where visibility was very low in Agra, Hamirpur, Moradabad and Jhansi. In the capital Lucknow including Varanasi, Ayodhya and Ghazipur, visibility has reduced to just 50 meters due to fog. The drop in temperature is such that at many places the mercury has dropped 5 degrees Celsius below normal, causing a situation like cold stress.
