UP Shiksha Mitras’ bat-bat! Big gift from Yogi government

Lucknow: A very good news has come for lakhs of Shiksha Mitras and instructors of Uttar Pradesh. After a long wait, Yogi government has issued the official order to increase his salary (honorarium) on Thursday evening. With this decision of the government, smiles have returned on the faces of about 1.67 lakh families of the state. The special thing is that this increased salary will be considered applicable from April 1 itself, which means that there is going to be a significant increase in the salary received in the first week of May.

How much salary will you get now?

According to the order issued by the government, the honorarium of Shiksha Mitras has been increased by Rs 8,000 and the honorarium of instructors has also been increased by Rs 8,000. Till now Shiksha Mitras used to get Rs 10,000 every month, which has now increased. Rs 18,000 Will happen. At the same time, earlier the instructors used to get Rs 9,000, which now Rs 17,000 Will be given per month.

At present, about 1,42,229 Shiksha Mitras and 24,717 instructors are working in the state. All of them have received this salary increase after a long gap of 9 years. Not only salary, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently announced that now Shiksha Mitras will also be able to get transferred and they and their families will also get cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.

Akhilesh Yadav’s attack: “Honorarium increased due to fear of defeat”

With this decision the politics of UP has also heated up. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has targeted the BJP government by writing an emotional letter to Shiksha Mitras. He said that during the time of SP, Shiksha Mitras used to get Rs 40,000, but BJP harassed them for 9 years.

Akhilesh wrote in his letter, “BJP has tried to show favor by increasing just a few rupees due to fear of defeat in the elections. If BJP is really well-intentioned, then it should also pay the previous dues.” He appealed to Shiksha Mitras to reduce BJP’s 22,000 votes from every assembly in the coming elections and form a ‘PDA’ government. He gave the slogan – “Shikshamitra says today, we don’t want BJP!”

Instructors’ long legal battle

The issue of honorarium of instructors was pending since 2017. In 2017, it was decided to increase the honorarium to Rs 17,000, but it was not implemented with the change of government. After this the matter reached the High Court and then the Supreme Court. On February 5, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the state government and made it clear that the instructors should be given an honorarium of Rs 17,000 and their jobs should not be terminated. The court accepted that these posts were created automatically due to working for 10 years.

The ups and downs journey of Shiksha Mitras

The story of Shiksha Mitras in UP has been full of ups and downs. In 2013-14, the SP government had made him an assistant teacher, but on July 25, 2017, the Supreme Court canceled this adjustment. After this, overnight 1.78 lakh teachers again became Shiksha Mitra and their salary of Rs 50,000 was reduced to Rs 3,500. After huge protests, the government increased it to Rs 10,000. Now this new order of 2026 has given great relief to Shiksha Mitras.
