UP Yoddhas beat Patna Pirates, Puneri Paltan thrash Bengal Warriors
UP Yoddhas narrowly defeated Patna Pirates in a nail-biting encounter, while Puneri Paltan showcased their dominance with a commanding win over Bengal Warriorz in an exhilarating double-header on Sunday in the Pro Kabaddi League.
In an intense clash, UP Yoddhas edged past Patna Pirates 44-42, thanks to the heroics of young raiders Bhavani Rajput and Gagan Gowda. The match filled with twists and turns, saw the Yoddhas stage a remarkable second-half comeback to clinch victory.
Patna Pirates, led by the sensational Devank Dalal, dominated early proceedings. Dalal, who tallied 18 points and completed yet another Super 10 gave his team an edge as they inflicted an ALL OUT on the Yoddhas by the 14th minute. By halftime, Patna held a six-point lead at 25-21.
However, the second half belonged to the Yoddhas. Gagan Gowda turned the tide with a breathtaking Super Raid that took out three defenders, marking his first Super 10 of the season. A crucial Super Tackle by Hitesh levelled the score and further disrupted Patna’s momentum. In the final moments, Bhavani and Gagan’s impeccable raiding clinched the game for the Yoddhas earning a hard-fought victory.
Puneri Paltan outclassed Bengal Warriors in a one-sided affair
Puneri Paltan, meanwhile, delivered a clinical performance to overpower Bengal Warriorz 51-34. The Paltan’s raiding trio—Mohit Goyat, Akash Shinde, and Pankaj Mohite dominated the match inflicting four ALL OUTs on their hapless opponents.
From the outset, Puneri Paltan asserted their dominance, racing to a seven-point lead within the first 10 minutes. Errors plagued the Bengal Warriorz, allowing Puneri Paltan to capitalize and inflict two ALL OUTs in the first half leading 24-11 at the break.
Skipper Pankaj Mohite set the tone for the second half with a spectacular Super Raid, while defender Mohit inflicted a third ALL OUT, effectively sealing the Warriorz’s fate. Despite a late effort by Bengal’s Nitin Kumar who secured a Super 10 with a brilliant Super Raid, the Paltan maintained their momentum to secure a commanding 17-point victory.

With this win, Puneri Paltan moved up to third on the points table, strengthening their chances of making the playoffs. Meanwhile, UP Yoddhas’ thrilling victory further solidified their position in the competition.
