Upcoming Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 Spied Without Camouflage

It is no secret that Royal Enfield is working on a new 750cc line of bikes. These will be underpinned by a new 750cc platform and will have models like the Interceptor, Continental GT and even a Himalayan. The new 750cc parallel-twin cafe racer has now been spotted testing in India, hinting at a fast-approaching market launch. This time, the motorcycle is seen without camouflage, revealing more details of the design.

Royal Enfield’s 750cc Cafe Racer: What The Latest Spy Sighting Reveals

We expect the 750cc cafe racer to launch in India before the year ends. In the new spy video, the motorcycle has red trade certificate (TC) plates. All design cues remain identical to those found on the vehicle that was previously spied abroad.

The motorcycle also has a clip-on handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, and the short, tapering tail section. The LED headlamp has a circular design and looks good. The bike seen in this video lacks one, but some variants of the Continental GT 750 will feature stylish Bikini fairing at the front. We can also see the twin upswept exhaust pipes. Parts of the engine are seen Blacked out. The tail lamps seem to be LED units. Overall, the GT 750 seems to have good visual appeal.

Another detail that can be seen in this video is the single-pod instrument cluster. The Continental GT 650 comes with a dual-pod cluster, which is loved by many, and adds a lot of character to the design. The single-pod unit is likely to be an all-digital cluster and gels well with the rest of the design.

This TFT screen is expected to come with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation powered by Google Maps, music controls, and several other features. It looks almost like the one that’s found on the Himalayan 450. We’ll only be able to confirm closer to the launch.

Big Mechanical Changes

The biggest highlights of the GT 750 will be its platform and powertrain. The motorcycle will use a new chassis that is lightweight and more advanced than the one underpinning the 650 range. The suspension setup will consist of telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks.

The braking hardware will also see a major upgrade. The front end will get dual disc brakes while the rear wheel will come with a single-disc setup. These will use ByBre calipers. In the video here, we can clearly see the dual disc brakes at the front. These will ensure proper (and safe) braking even with the increased performance figures of the larger engine, in place. The motorcycle will also feature 18-inch wheels with wider tyres.

The new 750cc engine, in essence, will be a heavily bored-out version of the existing 650’s parallel-twin. The stroke will remain the same. It will have a fuel-injected, SOHC, eight-valve configuration. The new motor is expected to produce around 55-60 bhp (a gain of 8-13 bhp) and 60-65 Nm. This air and oil cooled engine will be BS6 Phase 2B compliant. Paired to it will be a six-speed transmission with slipper and assist clutch.

The Continental GT 750 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated launches from Royal Enfield in recent years, and will likely have its price in the ballpark of Rs 3.9 lakh, ex-showroom. When launched, it will enter a segment which models like the Triumph Bonneville T100 currently has a strong presence in.

The manufacturer is also likely to build more interesting iterations of the GT750 like the one derived from the GT-R 750 showcased at EICMA last year. This will be sportier and have race-inspired details like a retro bikini fairing, race-style bodywork, circular race-number panels and more.
