Upendra Kushwaha’s MLA demands review of prohibition law

A demand has been made in the Bihar Assembly to review the liquor prohibition law. NDA ally RLM MLA Madhav Anand demanded a review of the liquor ban. The MLA said the time has come to review the liquor ban. RLM MLA Madhav Anand has thanked CM Nitish Kumar for the liquor ban law. He said that I want to thank him. Because to take such a decision one must have passion and a big heart.

Speaking in the Assembly, Madhav Anand said, “When liquor ban is done then definitely a lot has to be thought about and he (CM) decided on liquor ban. The ruling party and the opposition supported it in one voice.”

He further said, “I want to tell my government that the Chief Minister always reviews. We have our government and I want to tell the Chief Minister that now the time has come that liquor ban should also be reviewed.”

Madhav Anand further said, “It should be implemented well. Also work should be done on awareness and keep amending the law wherever there is a need for amendment. Sir, you have always been reviewing, hence this should also be reviewed.”

Liquor prohibition law was implemented in the state of Bihar in April 2016. Section 13 of this Act states that no one is allowed to manufacture, bottle, distribute, transport, collect, store, possess, buy, sell or consume any kind of liquor or any intoxicating substance.

Liquor ban law has been a political issue in Bihar. Even during the assembly elections, leaders of the ruling party and the opposition had given statements regarding this. NDA colleague Jitan Ram Manjhi has also talked about its review. Tejashwi Yadav had promised to change this law when the government came to power.
